Brewery Insurance and Risk Management: A Fun Night with KABA

By May 10, 2019June 19th, 2019No Comments

On Monday, April 29, 2019, our very own Craft Beverage Insurance Specialist Rebecca Leach gave a presentation at Elkmont Exchange as part of an educational seminar for members of the Knoxville Area Brewers’ Association  (KABA). Rebecca — along with Donald Seitz, Craft Beverage National Program Director at The Cincinnati Insurance Companies — were the spotlight speakers.

Rebecca and Donald presented on brewery and distillery risk management. They shared a wide variety of property and premises hazards unique to breweries, as well as some risk management tips to help breweries prevent a loss from occurring.

Rebecca and Donald also spoke on what happens when risk management fails and a claim occurs. They highlighted different aspects of standard insurance policies that do not adequately protect the exposures breweries and distilleries have and how to circumvent that with a policy that covers all of a brewery’s unique needs.

The presentation was very interactive and encouraged open discussion. The brewers had so many good questions that the event ran late into the night!

Rebecca says, “It was amazing to hear how passionate the brewers were about this topic. Donald and I learned as much from them as they did from us, which will help me do my job better to serve them.”

Some attendees included Knox Brew Tours, Alliance Brewing Company, Balter Beerworks, Clinch River BrewingPrintshop Beer Co., The Casual Pint, and Next Level Brewing Company.
